One month to go: get your submission ready

One key piece of retrospective advice that we hear from many challenge participants is that procrastination isn’t your friend when it comes to getting your submission ready. With just one month left to go before the submission deadline of August 20 (5 p.m. ET), now’s a great time to make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

So with that in mind, here are a few things to think about. (And if you haven't started yet, explore the quick-start guide and get some inspiration from our previous ideas & tips update.)

Start your draft... now

Starting a draft is a good way to make sure that your app meets the requirements. There’s nothing worse than getting to the deadline, only to realize that you’re missing a key component. And remember: once you begin a draft, you can save it and edit it at any time prior to the submission deadline.

A video is worth a thousand words

Don’t forget that your submission should include a video showing your app. Too often, participants leave this video to the last minute, and don’t realize that it’s an important way to showcase your work to judges (and to voters).

Old is new again

Remember, you can enter an existing mobile app into this challenge. BUT... if you do, it must use new MTA data and have new features or functionality as of the challenge start date (May 4, 2013).
